NYC Aesthetic: The Story Behind Our Cardigans 🗽
Share
Knitwear is often seen as one of the most challenging pieces to create, especially when you add the furry little friend you decide to craft them with, in our case, the Alpaca.
We wanted to give you a BTS look at the design process behind our latest piece, which we had been teasing for months.
As a designer (can I even call myself that?), tackling cardigans felt like the next level after knitwear, they’re more technical and trickier to execute.
When I approach a design, I work backwards. I first imagine the campaign shoot, where it’ll be, what the vibe is, what music will set the mood.
For this collection, we were lucky to shoot at It’s Bagels in Soho (shoutout to Beau!), which gave us our starting point: a New York-inspired aesthetic. We leaned into this by designing the cardigans with raglan-style sleeves, often seen on baseball jackets and pairing that with a subtly cropped silhouette, another nod to classic NY style.
Stay tuned for my next brain dump, where I will give you an insight into the unexpected production hurdles we faced and what it's really like to work with Alpaca...
Much Love
